After 80 years on store shelves, Kit Kat is now going where no chocolate bar has ever (intentionally) gone before: into your toaster oven. The idea is the brainchild of Yasumasa Takagi, who’s been involved in creating new Kit Kat flavors for ten years. The Bake ‘N Tasty Mini Kit Kat Custard Pudding Flavor (¥540 for 13 mini-bars) is to be put on a cooking tray covered with aluminum foil, then heated in the toaster oven for about two minutes so the sugar will be caramelized in the style of a crème brûlée. Maker Nestlé has further collaborated with a clutch of companies to produce original menu items using the bars: sundaes at Wired Cafe and Moriva Coffee, and pizzas at Strawberry Cones and Napoli no Kama.
