As any parent can testify, kids like to bang on pots, pans and anything else they can get their little hands on. So why not channel all that energy into an education experience? Part of the Music Weeks in Tokyo series of concerts and events, The Music Education Program is designed to help kids find their inner percussionist. Instructors Paulo Neto and Jorge Queijo developed the workshop for Portugal’s Casa de Musica concert hall and are bringing their body percussion method to Tokyo Bunka Kaikan on February 8-9. Sessions (¥500/hour) are for specific age groups, so be sure to check beforehand. If your little one joins the “Rhythmical Kitchen” class, they can bang on all manner of pots and pans—only this time it won’t be in your home. www.t-bunka.jp/mwit2013
