The first crowd-sourced concert by an international artist in Japan takes the form of a show by Montreal electro duo Blue Hawaii. The gig marks the debut of promoter Alive, which aims to shake up Japan’s touring scene by allowing fans to vote on which acts come to the country. The idea is a bit like Indiegogo or Kickstarter—fans pledge to buy tickets for a band (Blue Hawaii, XXYYXX and Summer Camp are three examples), and if enough sell, then the gig is actually realized. At this writing,  three out of six band projects had already sold enough tickets to see their tours come to fruition. For those late to the Alive party, tickets are still available through Pia and the like.
