The latest spinoff from the Irish stage spectacular Riverdance arrives in the form of Celtic Woman. The tour comes on the back of the success in Japan of their new album Believe! featuring the song “Princess Toyotomi” from the film of same title. Conceived by David Downes, a former musical director of Riverdance, Celtic Woman is an all-female musical ensemble that performs traditional Irish material adapted into a sizzling pop format a la Pussycat Dolls. First intended to tap into the huge Irish-American market, the group has recently struck a chord in Japan.
