If beer gardens aren’t quite your thing, the annual Starlight Cinema at Yebisu Garden Place offers a different kind of al fresco summertime entertainment. This year, the theater will present blockbusters like the otaku fable Densha Otoko (July 30) and Hirokazu Kore-eda’s acclaimed 1998 fantasy Wonderful Life (August 7). Screenings begin at 7:15pm each Friday, Saturday and Sunday through August 8; free passes to the seating area will be available from 6:15-7pm, but late-arriving cinephiles can still watch from the surrounding plaza.
