Michael West, aka Congo Natty, aka Rebel MC, is not only a producer, but a singer and toaster of renown. Unlike most producers in the jungle/drum ‘n’ bass/dubstep tradition, he’s the complete package. West arrives with his latest, Jungle Revolution (out on Beat in Japan), a lively outing in which he makes explicit the musical path from dubstep back to jungle, dub and finally roots reggae. West debuted two decades ago and has long been viewed as one of the pioneers of UK bass music—at Unit he’ll be joined by Congo Dubz and a slew of worthy locals.
