In what has become a year-end tradition for doll maker Kyugetsu, a group of traditional hagoita (battledores) festooned with the likeness of the year’s top newsmakers were displayed at its headquarters in Asakusa-bashi. In addition to baseball star Ichiro Suzuki (pictured), luminaries included US President Barack Obama, Uniqlo chief Tadashi Yanai, World Series hero Hideki Matsui, and acting great Hisaya Morishige, who passed away in November. Check out Kyugetsu’s website for the full gallery.
