1st Anniversary Exhibition with “THE BOOK”

WALL_alternative marks its first anniversary with THE BOOK, a captivating exhibition running from November 27 to December 28, 2024. Located in Tokyo’s vibrant Nishi-Azabu neighborhood, this event celebrates storytelling through visual art, culinary experiences and literary creativity.

Five talented artists present their unique interpretations of books and narratives. Yuzuho Matsuoka unveils eight pieces, including three new works, on a stunning 7-meter wall. The exterior of WALL_alternative features a large-scale visual collaboration between Matsuoka and meiji THE Cacao. Miho Iida draws inspiration from iconic literary works, showcasing pieces based on Harada Maha’s novels and Andy Warhol’s POPism. Eri Ueno explores themes from A Chorus Line with six dynamic artworks. Aoi Arai and YU SORA contribute fresh perspectives with pieces created specifically for this exhibition.

The exhibition doesn’t stop at visual art. The on-site bar collaborates with meiji THE Cacao, offering weekly special menus that merge culinary craftsmanship with the chocolate brand’s rich flavors. TEA BUCKS adds an exclusive tea menu, featuring perfectly brewed Japanese tea paired with meiji THE Cacao treats. WALL_alternative also debuts its signature hayashi rice dish, prepared with beef simmered in three liters of red wine.

Visitors can explore a festive Christmas market featuring LAND/ako kawamura’s seasonal swags and browse curated art books from LIEB BOOKS. The literary corner adds another layer to the exhibition’s storytelling theme.

The event launches with an opening reception on November 27 from 6 pm to 10 pm, where attendees can meet the artists and collaborators while enjoying complimentary welcome drinks.
