Sound Installation “Ceremony” in Tokyo’s Historic Teahouses

On December 7, 2024, Tokyo’s National Museum will host “Ceremony,” an immersive sound installation curated by the renowned artist aus. Set within the museum’s four historic teahouses—Shunsoro, Tengyuan, Rokusouan, and Kujokan—the event features new works by aus, Ulla and Hinako Omori, each inspired by the tranquility and rituals of traditional tea ceremonies.

Attendees will experience a blend of ambient and experimental music, thoughtfully integrated into the serene environment of the teahouses. Musician aus, aka Yasuhiko Fukuzono, head of Tokyo’s Flau Record, will be present to guide the experience. The sound installation promise to offer a contemplative journey, merging sound and space in a harmonious dialogue.

aus (Yasuhiko Fukuzono) Bio:

A Tokyo-based composer and artist. He has been working on music for experimental video works since his teens. He is inspired by sounds that spill from television and radio, visuals from movies, words, long-forgotten memories and inner emotions, and illustrates the minute moments of the world. After a long hiatus from his own musical activities, he released his first new album in 15 years, “Everis,” last year. John Beltran, Li Yilei and others participated in the remix album for this work. He has also done many remix works by Craig Armstrong, Seahawks and others.
