Japan Night Fever: Haneda Innovation City (Haneda Yorumachi)
Tokyo’s airport fringe is about to glow in new ways. Haneda Innovation City (HICity), a multi-use district built on the former site of the original Haneda Airport terminal, will host a night market across six evenings in October and November.
The concept is straightforward yet layered: a night market imagined as a meeting point of cyberpunk aesthetics and centuries-old Japanese motifs. Visitors will walk through a corridor where paper lanterns cast warm shadows, before the scene shifts into neon-lit installations that nod to the futuristic yet retro aesthetics of cyberpunk fiction.

Food
Eating at Japan Night Fever is less about a single definition of “traditional” Japanese food and more about the everyday flavors that shape life here. Expect ramen, gyoza and sake tastings alongside seasonal snacks. What makes it distinctive is the focus on Ota Ward. The line-up draws from some of the district’s best-loved kitchens, places that locals frequent but that rarely appear on tourist itineraries.

Activities
Elsewhere, the evening opens into play. A free-to-join arcade corner offers games from competitive titles to casual favorites, with live commentators on selected nights to give the feel of a tournament. Around the walkways, Ota Ward’s own makers set up “cyber yatai” stalls, and roving performers—samurai actors and lion dancers among them—bring traditional motifs into the flow of the night. Together, these moments anchor the spectacle in both pop culture and local character.
