Joshua Helius – Tender Ruin

Jun 04, 2026 at 7:00pm ~ Jul 01, 2026 at 5:30pm

HVEN Gallery presents Tender Ruin, a solo exhibition by Tokyo-based photographer Joshua Helius. The exhibition explores themes of preservation, fracture, and release.

Through the imagery of flowers encapsulated in ice, the series invites viewers to reflect on the delicate space between holding on and letting go. It proposes that true preservation may not lie in resisting change but in allowing things to transform, fade, and eventually disappear naturally.

Born in the Philippines and raised in Japan, Joshua’s multicultural perspective shapes the way he interprets emotion, memory, and human relationships. The fluidity, instability, transformative qualities, and sensitivity to darkness, light, and impermanence in his works reflect his lifelong closeness to water.

Opening Reception: Thursday, June 4th, 2026 | 19:00 – 24:00

Visit the exhibition on opening day for an opportunity to meet the artist in person while experiencing the work.
