While there are plenty of Bon Odori festivals around Japan in the summer, this one stands out. The Kanda Shrine’s Anime Bon Odori festival combines the traditional dances with tunes from famous anime shows, bringing the old and new together. Appropriately, this event is held in Akihabara — an area known for its anime scene — and there are three days for you to attend.

Friday’s dance is the anime-themed one and starts at 5pm. Saturday and Sunday’s dances will be more traditional, and other festival events will take place from 12pm-9pm. There will also be plenty of food and drink stalls. Entry to the event is FREE!
