Mori Building is pleased to announce a unique “paddy-in-the-sky” rice-harvesting event at the rooftop garden, some 45 meters above ground, of Roppongi Hills on Saturday, September 24.

This beloved event, now in its 20th year, is held every autumn as a community activity that allows urban-based workers and residents in the Roppongi Hills area to experience Japan’s traditional culture of rice cultivation.

This year, in collaboration with Yamagata Prefecture, the Yamagata rice variety Yukiwakamaru was planted in May.

For the first time in two years, some 100 people from the general public will be invited to experience harvesting rice with sickles, hanging stalks to dry in the sun, and threshing already-dried rice.
