Evergreen Language School
Learn Japanese language and culture all in one place
By Metropolis
For the past 72 years, Evergreen language School has been adapting to current trends in pedagogy while building a community of students from over 75 countries within its walls.
Evergreen Language School offers programs to help students succeed in the corporate world as well as classes to help them obtain their Japanese visa. Their two Meguro-based schools in Yutenji and Jiyugaoka provide weekly, intensive and visa-sponsored courses with morning, afternoon and evening lesson options.
Among the cultural workshops courses that Evergreen Language School offers is shodou (Japanese calligraphy), sadou (Japanese tea ceremony), and ikeban (flower arranging), taking learning beyond workbooks and into practical, memorable experiences. Evergreen has a partnership with Nagomi House, which provides these cultural experiences for students. Nagomi House is a 6-minute walk from Yutenji Station.
Both Evergreen locations are easily accessible – about a three-minute walk from their respective stations.
It is approximately six minutes from Shibuya to Yutenji on the local Toyoko Line and seven minutes from Shibuya to Jiyugaoka on the F-Liner or Commuter Express Toyoko Line trains.
Finding the perfect match for you among the myriad of language schools to choose from in Tokyo is no easy task. Trying to navigate between the full-time versus part-time programs, group versus private lessons, or intensive versus topic-specific courses can be time-consuming and downright frustrating. Thankfully, the long-established Evergreen Language School presents a wide variety of flexible courses to choose from all in one.
Whereas most schools simply focus on textbooks and classroom work, Evergreen Language School also provides their students with opportunities to learn Japanese through practical, immersive culture classes and courses oriented around Japanese traditional crafts.
