Speaking of extra dimensions, one of the more noteworthy of the recent 3D-TV announcements came from Toshiba, which unleashed a sweet-looking LCD powered by the same processor found in the PlayStation 3.

The company’s CELL TV is unique in that the PS3 chip at its heart is powerful enough to support multiple 3D technologies that might emerge in the future, as well as being able to convert flat 2D images to 3D.

Whether or not that’s a Good Thing depends on your tolerance for wearing the aforementioned cardboard specs on the sofa at home, of course. Expect to see the like-it-or-loathe-it technology on sale in Japan late summer this year.
