Bringing together 15 of Japan’s top art galleries, G-tokyo is a new contemporary art fair with a difference: instead of the bazaar model, it’s making things easy for collectors by offering select solo artist presentations in an intimate museum context. Among the participating galleries is the Mizuma Art Gallery, whose longtime favorite with international collectors, Akira Yamaguchi, will be presenting a new series entitled “Chukado (The Art of Electric Pole Arrangement).” Other well-known galleries such as Tomio Koyama and Scai the Bathhouse will be offering up familiar names as well as their latest signings from Japan’s art schools.
