Hot on the heels of their record showing in the new Michelin guide, Tokyo restaurants get star billing in the 2010/2011 Miele Guide, an annual publication showcasing Asia’s top eateries. Cracking the Top 20 is L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon in Roppongi, which took ninth spot overall. Two other classic French restaurants—L’Osier in Ginza (www.shiseido.co.jp/losier) and Cuisine(s) Michel Troisgros in Shinjuku (www.troisgros.jp)—made the editors’ Top 5 for Japan, along with the eclectic White Fox in Oji (www.thewhitefox.jp) and Seiji Yamamoto’s Roppongi hotspot, Ryugin (www.nihonryori-ryugin.com). In all, restaurants in Japan account for 54 of the 450 venues listed in this edition of the Miele Guide. The book is available for $15 from http://mieleguide.com.
