The assassination of US President John F Kennedy in November 1963 has been the focus of many a conspiracy theory in books and films. Now, Leonardo DiCaprio is throwing his hat into the ring. According to E! Online, DiCaprio’s production company has landed the film rights to Legacy of Secrecy, a book that claims the mafia was behind the killing. DiCaprio will play FBI informant Jack Van Laningham, who, according to recently declassified FBI files, took part in a dangerous undercover operation to infiltrate the mafia organization of a New Orleans crime boss linked to Kennedy’s murder. The film’s release is scheduled to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the assassination in 2013.
