Borrowed robes might have been bad news for Macbeth, but for visitors to Inspire Space, right by Hiroo station, they will mean a memorable experience and an insight into Japanese culture. The multi-purpose event space, which also has branches in Azabu-Juban, Okinawa and Fujiyoshida, is offering three kimono lessons, followed by a visit to a kyogen (traditional Japanese comedy) performace in your fancy togs. The course will be complemented by a visit from a kyogen performer, Tomitaro Zenchiku, who will explain in English how to get the most out of the show. The two-hour lessons take place November 17 and 24 and December 1, and the whole shebang costs ¥23,000 per person, including theater tickets. Bring your own kimono or rent one from your hosts.
