Regional industry fairs Kansai Music Conference and Japan Music Week come together for a night of networking and live performances this month. Musicians interested in breaking into the Japanese market will get a chance to swap some meishi first, followed by sets from local and international acts. Straight outta New York, Raye6 (above) is something like a black Peaches—an erotic, controversy-courting singer and producer who has worked with Ghostface Killah. She’ll be joined by Tokyo-based multimedia duo Lakeshore Driving and Osaka’s Riot Dance Party, a rock/funk/hip-hop pair who have just completed their first Australian tour.
