JAL has taken a real financial beating lately, but the airline can’t be faulted for its environmental efforts. Recognized in 2005 as an “Eco-First” company for its pledges to reduce C02 emissions, JAL has now unveiled a 777-200 festooned with the logo of the upcoming COP10 summit in Nagoya. The colorful paintwork was added to a plane known as the JAL Eco Jet, which had previously swapped the carrier’s famed “Arc of Sun” insignia for an environmentally correct swath of green. Participants at next month’s COP10 conference will be discussing issues related to the International Year of Biodiversity.
