Abrupt, puzzlingly pointless ending

Goth rocker-cum-filmmaker Rob Zombie takes a break from his torture-porn to make this relatively restrained, low-budget, sporadically creepy spook movie. “Restrained,” mind you, doesn’t mean there’s any lack of flat-out weirdness and garish surrealism, which takes place mostly in cheesy “and-then-I-woke-up” nightmares. A Salem lady DJ (Rob’s wife Sheri Moon Zombie) is targeted by a local coven of witches for some nefarious reason. Don’t be expecting Rosemary’s Baby. Points for atmosphere and general strangeness, but it’s more than a little silly and hardly great horror. Abrupt, puzzlingly pointless ending.
