Odaiba palace of science the Miraikan (National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation) provides a peek at the creation of Tokyo’s tallest tower—even before it opens for business in 2012. “Making of Tokyo Sky Tree” traces the development of the 634m digital broadcasting tower from the challenging design phase through to the crowning of Tokyo’s latest tourist attraction. A massive crane used to hoist huge prefabricated steel parts into the heavens are featured along with a 1:100 scale model of the Sky Tree made of Lego, making this one particularly kid-friendly.

Miraikan, through Oct 2 (listing).
