Dare to be Wild
I wonder why director Vivienne De Courcy deemed it film-worthy
July 4, 2016
This odd little movie applies the epic sports underdog formula to the true story of a young, talented Irish woman going up against the pros (with the help of a hunky love interest) to emerge victorious in a major competition. So far so good. But the “sport,” and I am not making this up, is garden design, and the big competition is the Chelsea Flower Show. Edge-of-your-seat stuff. I congratulate landscape artist Mary Reynolds on her accomplishment. I just wonder why director Vivienne De Courcy deemed it film-worthy. Inevitably some nice nature photography, and the colors are pretty. Japanese title: Flower Show! (100 min)
