It’s been four decades since Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis, reprising her breakout role in John Carpenter’s 1978 proto-slasher) escaped the masked and murderous Michael Myers. She’s now a shotgun-toting crazy old lady, and it’s time for a final confrontation. I was never into slashers, but adherents of the genre will find this a satisfyingly gory, necessarily formulaic and very well-made tribute. It’s just that, given the actual horrors of today’s troubled world of regular mass killings, the knifing of a handful of misbehaving college kids simply isn’t that shocking. That’s a terrible thing to have to say. (106 min)
