Grouping some of the expat community’s most experienced musicians, New York Minute brings its febrile blend of ’70s and ’80s funk, rock and R&B to storied Shibuya club Crocodile. Besides having a lot of fun on stage, says singer, keyboardist and MetPod regular Kaleb James, the sextet—three of whom are native New Yorkers—originally came together because “you just don’t hear these grooves any more.” When not engaged in their own musical activities, New York Minute’s members can be heard backing A-list J-pop stars like Boa and Chara, or touring with the likes of Lenny Kravitz and Mariah Carey.
