If the idea of The Clash or Billy Idol songs given an acoustic bossa nova makeover sounds intriguing, then pencil into your calendar an upcoming visit by French cover band Nouvelle Vague. Formed a decade ago by Marc Collin and Olivier Libaux, the group’s retro jazz version of Idol’s “Dancing with Myself” found its way into the hit show LA Ink. The duo have become something of a phenomenon, with numerous guest appearances by French celebrities. Their upcoming tour sees them performing with no less than three female vocalists. If you want to know if they will play their cover of the Japanese punk song “Linda, Linda, Linda” that they have been previewing on YouTube, you will just have to show up for the gig.

French Institute of Tokyo, Mar 29 and O-Nest, Mar 30.

They will also be performing nationwide at Urban Guild in Kyoto Mar 25 and Gate’s 7 in Fukuoka, Mar 26.
