A gaggle of leading stage and dance types gather in Yokohama this week for the annual Performing Arts Meeting. Part networking event and part showcase, TPAM as its known offers a bevy of intriguing performances. Of special note, French stage director and visual artist Philippe Quesne (pictured) has been invited to create a special performance with four young actresses of Tokyo’s Seinendan Company entitled Anamorphosis that promises to “transform common rituals of contemporary daily life on stage into small ceremonies.” Also from abroad are Professor by acclaimed young French choreographer Maud Le Pladec and theater piece Little Iliad by Canada-based director Evan Webber. Well-known Japanese stage and dance figures like Toshiki Okada and Kakuya Ohashi are also represented.
