Japan loves its child prodigies—even when they’re no longer children. Now 41, Peter Jablonski will again mount the stage for rapt fans in a solo recital at the sparkling Suntory Hall. Jablonski was jamming at New York’s legendary Village Vanguard at age nine, and by 19 was performing with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London. In Tokyo he’ll interpret works by Beethoven and Liszt, the latter of whom is featured on his new album Jablonski Plays Liszt. He’ll also present a program of American composers including Gershwin and Copeland as well as a jazz arrangement of Rimsky Korsakov’s Flight of the Bumblebee.
