Hop on deck for a hot evening party on the water, with some stunning celebrity surfers!

The cruise ship “LADY CRYSTAL” will be the site of an evening of festivities and fine dining at The Cruise Club Tokyo on Tennozu Isle, overlooking Tokyo Bay, hosted by Rip Curl.

Guests will be able to mingle with the skilled and stunning star surfers of the Ichinomiya Chiba Open, which took play this past May in Chiba Prefecture: Alana Blanchard, a U.S. pro surfer and model with a fashion line and over 1.6 million followers on Instagram; Niki Van Dijk, an Aussie competing in the World Surf League; and from Japan, Reika Noro—champion of the Ichinomiya tournament—and Rico Sunakawa. The party will conclude with an hour-long cruise through the bay, kicking off at 9:30pm.

The event is free and open to all, food and drink included, but Rip Curl will be collecting donations from visitors to benefit charity organizations. Note that should there be a large number of visitors on the day, the number of participants will have to be limited.

Surfers’ Night 2016. Jul 9, 7pm (doors open 6:30pm; cruise 9:30-10:30pm). Free entry. The Cruise Club Tokyo, 1F Seafort Square, 2-3-16 Higashi-Shinagawa, Shinagawa-ku. http://cctokyo.co.jp.

There’s talk going around that surfing will be among the events at the upcoming Tokyo Olympics. All in good time, as the success of this May’s Ichinomiya Chiba Open helped put Japan on the map as a prime site for surfing.

Ensuring that surfing continues to thrive in Japan, celebrity pro surfers Alana Blanchard, Niki Van Dijk, and Reika Noro are uniting to run a girls’ surf camp on the shores of Ichinomiya, Chiba Prefecture. Surfers, amateur and experienced alike, who want to catch some waves will be given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do so alongside these world-renowned athletes.

Once the waves have worked up appetites, the camp will host a free lunch party at the 40-mile station, open to participants of the Surf Camp.

The event is free, and anyone can participate. However, as with the cruise, donations will be collected to benefit a charity for breast cancer research.

Girls’ Surf Camp. Jul 10, 10am (gather at 9:30). Parking lot of Deep Surf, 10126-2 Ichinomiya, Ichinomiya-machi, Chosei-gun, Chiba. Free lunch party. Jul 10, 1:30pm. The 40-mile station of The Surf Garden 1F, 7500-7 Torami, Ichinomiya-machi, Chosei-gun, Chiba.
