Sparkling autumn weather means it’s time to break out those tartans again and head on out to this year’s 30th installment of Japan’ long-running Highland Games. Test your strength in heavy events such as the caber toss and the Scottish hammer throw, dance to the sounds of the Tokyo Piping Society, or simply celebrate Celtic culture by scarfing haggis and drinking whiskey. With a 1500-year history, the Highland Games now encompass more than 650 events held around the world in locations as far-flung as Indonesia and New Zealand.
