Stepping back from the Apple frenzy for a moment, let’s take a look at Sony’s latest digital camera, a bijou waterproof number with its eye on the summer beach season. The Cyber-shot DSC-TX5 is out now for around ¥40,000 and is, we’re told, the world’s smallest waterproof digital camera at just 17.7mm thick. That waterproofing should see it safe in depths of up to 3m for an hour or so. Although it hardly seems to matter these days when even phones have sensors in megapixel double digits, it would be remiss of us not to share the news that the TX5 has 10.6 of the buggers. Overall, it’s a nice camera, just a touch pricey—perhaps Kakaku.com knows different.
