Taking the principle behind vajazzling into the parlor room, Nude Jewelry allows people—mostly women, let’s face it—to decorate their bodies with pure gold leaf or platinum. At ¥5,000 for a standard set, you can transform your skin into a canvas without the irreversibility of tattoos, meaning poor choices will only haunt you via your Facebook page. Nobuhiko Akatsuka created this nifty novelty in 2006, making use of traditional Japanese kinpaku gold foil—feted as the thinnest in the world. Nude Jewelry was featured in Time magazine and on Fox and CNN, and has been pushed by Tiffany and other jewelry giants. It might take some selling in Siberia, though.
