Sleeping Beauty

Ponderous, anti-erotic, softcore porn flick

If this ponderous, anti-erotic soft-core porn flick from Australian director-wannabe novelist Julia Leigh proves anything, it’s that the astounding lack of acting talent displayed by Emily Browning in Sucker Punch was genuine. A laconic, disaffected (and character-free) college girl takes a job as a high-end prostitute who allows herself to be drugged into a coma and manhandled by twisted old geezers. (No penetration, though. That would be lewd.) This pretentious, faux-existential, psychosexual rubbish will be much more enjoyable if you first drug yourself into a coma and sleep through it.
