usbCovering developments in consumer technology can be a lot like painting the Golden Gate Bridge: a never-ending, often tedious task. But that won’t get in the way of the stupendous news that USB 3.0 is almost here!

The new, super-fast iteration of the universal connector is already gearing up in NEC’s factories, with PCs sporting the port due out by the end of the year. And why should we care? Well, the 5Gbps transfer rate of SuperSpeed (even FireWire had a better nickname) is supposed to allow us to transfer high-def video between devices in real time, which is A Good Thing, apparently.
