In a future world, people prefer staying at home in sloth and safety to actually doing things, and live through robotic (and better looking) surrogates. Bruce Willis, an FBI agent whose surrogate for some unexplained reason wears a comical toupee, is investigating a pair of murders in which the destruction of the surrogates have resulted in the deaths of their real-person users. Not supposed to happen, see? Another sci-fi word for surrogate is “avatar,” and this might have been more interesting if Cameron hadn’t just released his big blue blockbuster. But probably not. Also Radha Mitchell and James Cromwell.
