Berlin-based Canadian minimal techno producer Deadbeat faces off with domestic digital dub sound system Jah-Light for the next edition of Root & Branch’s long-running and much fêted Ubik Version nights. The point of reference for each of these highly regarded acts is Jamaican dub, with Deadbeat (Scott Monteith) weaving vocal and instrumental dub samples into foreboding outings of minimal techno. Released by leading tech-house labels Wagon Repair and Cynosure, Deadbeat returns to Japan’s capital to demo tracks off his newly released album Drawn And Quartered.

Saloon, Feb 24 (listing).
