In the kind of independently organized tour that is becoming increasingly frequent, Brooklyn-based Aussie outfit Video Day arrive for a quick snorkel through Tokyo’s rock dives. The duo consists of Melbourne native Joshua Teicher, who dropped out of film school some years ago to pursue his musical muse, along with his partner Sophia Exiner. After figuring heavily in Melbourne’s free jazz scene, Teicher settled on a more introspective vision of latter-era folk-tronica that references anything from Grizzly Bear to Cornelius. They play a midday session at Shimokitazawa’s 440 alongside native acts The Suzan and Loop Pool. Teicher says he’ll also be showing an audiovisual document of his journey from Brooklyn to Japan by way of London and Morocco.
