Year’s Biggest Storm Heads Toward Japan

Typhoon 19 expected over the weekend

Typhoon 19 (Vongfong) is set to rival the strength of last year’s Typhoon Haiyan, which caused major devastation in the southern Philippines.

Just days after Japan was hit with Typhoon 18 (Phanfone), Typhoon 19 is now on course to head toward Japan by the weekend. Although it’s expected to gain power over the open sea as it makes its way to the main island, it should also lose some steam after it makes landfall.
