Pantomime and performance artist Barbara Murata presents a new piece that she has described as the culmination of her career. Employing mime, masks, puppets, dance and theater, Murata explores the female psyche by taking on the role of various “stranded women.” To the accompaniment of sax and piano, her brand of “physical passion theater” promises to mix the burlesque with the surreal. Murata is a member of the pioneering After Cloudy Company, the force behind the Tokyo International Fool Festival, whose clowns and performance artists have wowed audiences worldwide.
