Some guys just gotta surf. Others, apparently, just gotta make surfing films. This journeyman effort is not at all bad. Clunky narration and repetitive footage aside, it’s an exhaustive outline of the development of the sport of kings from its Duke and Ka’iulani days to modern-day board shapers and champions. The filmmakers have done their homework and seem to know what they’re talking about. It’s just that it’s all been done before. Many, many, many times. Don’t worry if you miss the theatrical release. It will probably be the featured BGV in Japanese surf bars for some time to come.
