An alumnus of ballet companies in Austria, Canada and the US, Vladimir Malakhov also has a slew of appearances in Japan under his belt. The current artistic director of the Berlin Ballet returns for the eighth time in his “Gift from Malakhov” series, which will see the native Ukrainian present four nights of gala performances. The “A” program includes the Japan debut of selections from recent works such as A Masked Ball, which Malakhov set to music by Verdi, while the “B” program includes his own take on the chestnut La Bayadere. Accompanying Malakhov will be esteemed ballerinas Polina Semionova from Berlin and Nina Kaptsova from the Bolshoi.
