I’m pretty confident most of you will at least have seen Angry Birds, the incredibly addictive iPhone and iPad game that has almost singlehandedly made iOS a viable gaming platform. However, in spite of 6.5 million sales worldwide, it’s barely scratched the charts here in Japan—something on which maker Rovio has asked me to shed a little light later in September as part of my own PR business. That’s a disclosure, BTW.
While this isn’t part of that effort, early research is suggesting some Japanese phone gamers accustomed to paying ¥315 or more per month to effectively rent a game on their handsets are suspicious of something so utterly excellent for just ¥115, period. Oh, and that includes free updates for life. Too good to be true, perhaps? Hardly.
Anyway, while that’s just hearsay at the minute, I hope to find out what’s really going on when we get into the meat of the campaign. Until then, spread the good word, people.
