Yes, she entered the Eurovision Contest. But don’t hold that against her. Warsaw-born Anna Maria Jopek has earned credibility over the years since she represented Poland in 1997. In 2002, she collaborated on Upojenie (“Rapture”) with jazz guitarist Pat Metheny, and she’s cultivated a reputation as a skilled interpreter of pop, jazz—and Polish folk music. At Blue Note she’ll be setting a romantic Christmas mood for patrons as they consume a four-course dinner that will hopefully be as delicious as it is expensive.
Blue Note Tokyo, Dec 21-25 (listing).
