A newly gleaming Tokyo Station is beginning to reveal itself after an extensive renovation. But underground the station is where the real action is. The area comes alive this month with an array of art selected from among Japan’s most promising young art school graduates as part of the Art Award Tokyo Marunouchi. The AATM has been helping to identify emerging talents for the past half-decade now, and a number of new artists selected by its judges have risen to prominence. Works are exhibited at the Gyoku-dori Underground Gallery, a 220-meter passageway connecting the Maru Biru and Shin Maru Biru buildings.
Gyoko-dori Underground Gallery, until May 27 (listing).
