With an exhibition of legendary untrained “art brut” or “outsider” artist Henry Darger underway downtown, the chance now arises to take in works by Japanese outsider artists. The show comes from the Borderless Art Museum NO-MA, run by the Social Welfare Department of Shiga Prefecture. Interestingly, it was curated and first presented at the Musée d’Art Brut in Paris. Most of the 63 artists live in, or are patients at, facilities for the mentally disabled and suffer from disorders such as autism or Down’s syndrome.Museum of Modern Art, Saitama
