The Embassy of Brazil in Tokyo has erected a pavilion on its front steps for the duration of the 2014 World Cup. Designed by internationally renowned humanitarian architect Shigeru Ban, the pavilion is composed almost entirely of compressed cardboard lashed together with ropes, and filled with wood-and-cardboard tables where visitors can enjoy coffee, mate tea and Brazilian snacks such as pão de queijo (cheese bread) from 10am-5pm each day, as well as special events such as concerts and workshops.

The embassy is continuously on the lookout for volunteers to help run the pavilion. Those interested are encouraged to mail eventos@brasemb.or.jp with their name, age, phone number and availability (Volunteer slots from 10am-1:30pm or 1:30pm-5pm).
