Winner of the influential 2010 Toyota Choreography Award, contemporary dance company Project Oh!yama presents a newly revamped version of its “funny and cute” prizewinning piece Catch My Beam. The all-women troupe was founded in 2006 by college student Yuuri Furuie and quickly caught the attention of the Japanese dance world. In 2009 the group traveled to France to participate in the L’Experience Japonaise festival, while their easily accessible choreography (and goofy jumpsuits) got them invited to appear in a video for the single “Skin” by J-pop star Meg, helmed by mega-producer Yasutaka Nakata (Perfume, etc.).
Theater Tram, Aug 5-6 (listing).
