Celebrating the tenth anniversary of its “Celtic Christmas” series, local promoter Plankton presents an all-star triple bill that stretches back to medieval Ireland and forward to the contemporary music scene. Topping the bill is the ever-popular Altan, a two-decade-old juggernaut led by fiddler Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh that has done perhaps more than anyone to put Celtic traditions on the world music map. Also performing will be the unusual vocal ensemble Anuna, an Irish choir that reinterprets ancient Celtic music. Scottish harp and fiddle duo Catriona & Chris, meanwhile, offer an intimate reminder that Celts once occupied a large swathe of northwestern Europe.
