Providing a safe, clean and cheap place to stay for young travelers is the mission of Une No, CEO of the ¥1,980 a Night Capsule Hotel.
After graduating from University in Korea, Une came to Tokyo as a language student, following in the footsteps of her mother who had started a business in the country. She was captivated by Japan’s ancient scenery and history as she traveled around the country. She saved her salary from her part-time job in order to travel more, both in Japan and around the world. Having experienced the thrill of travel, Une would never forget the smiling faces of all of the young people that she had met on her way. This made her feel that she wanted to work in a field that would allow her to help travelers young and old alike.
With the support of other people sharing her international outlook, she was able to open the hotel this February. The focus is on providing reasonably priced, safe and clean accommodation where backpackers can spend the night. The ¥1,980 price was made possible by adhering to a minimalist design, eliminating any unnecessary fixtures.
The hotel has 76 rooms, each with ample room to rest comfortably. There is also storage space with lockers suitable for even big suitcases, to free up space in the capsule. Internet connections are provided and a discount supermarket is located on the first floor of the same building. Visitors are also pleasantly surprised to discover a superb view of Tokyo Skytree from the roof above the recreation space in the hotel.
The very Japanese concept of the capsule hotel meets the dream of a Korean traveller in this new location. Why not give it a try?
